Success Stories - From Customer to Product Experience!

Ross Turpie has been with Firefish for over 7 years – and having started as a Recruitment Success Specialist in 2016, some of his next roles didn’t even exist at the time! Currently, he’s our Functional Head of Product Experience, managing a team of 5 and being the bridge between all things customer and product.

Ross worked within his initial role for 3 years, after which he got promoted to Team Leader of Product Experience. However, there is a plot twist – the PX Team did not even exist before! Ross was ambitious and talented but working with customers wasn’t fully his dream – he wanted to get involved with the technical (product) side of things, too. The PX Team was created to allow him to transition smoothly into more of developer work.

In April of 2022, he got promoted to his current role, Functional Head of PX. He grew the PX Team from an initial headcount of 3 to 6, so it became a natural next step for his career.

His journey shows us that no matter what position you start in, Firefish is here to support your individual goal and talents. We understand that each Fish is different, and we want all of our Shoal members to experience their own growth journey!

Ross highlights how important the support of his managers and our Chief Fish, Wendy, was in all his years here – he always had a clear view of what his role entails and what he needs to do to progress further. He says he is constantly pushed out of his comfort zone to become the best version of himself.
