October End of Month Newssplash

October has been a fin-ominally busy month for the Shoal at Firefish; we’ve had our CJ Check Ins with the Shoal – and some promotions to announce off the back of them – had our Halloweegee Day in the Hub and we’ve got our End of Month Winners to announce, so let’s dive in!

It's spooky season here at Firefish and nothing gets us more ready for some frightful sights than a day of spooks in the Hub. We had a Halloweegee day in the Hub to celebrate the occasion and finish October with a bang before we get in the Fish-mas spirit!

Our Fish put their frightful face forward with their costumes and got into the swing of pumpkin decorating, all in the name of winning team points for our Team of the Year award.

Congrats to our award winners, Vicki Moir, who won Best Costume and Amy McLaughlin, who took home the Least Effort Costume Award 😆 Stewart Pollock needs to get to work with his crayons, as his pumpkin lacked lustre, while Gary produced the Best Decorated pumpkin.

Promotions

We’ve had a fair few promotions here at Firefish this month – SIX to be exact, which is fin-onminal!

We love it when October rolls around, because that means CJ time for the Shoal. Every six months, our Fish are supported with clear plans for improvement in their current role and given opportunities for progression.

It’s a collaborative process, with the Fish getting a real say in what they want to accomplish and clear avenues to create their own success. We love to celebrate achievement in the Shoal, and CJ’s are a fin-tastic way to recognise and reward our Fish!

So congratulations to Natasha Shaurek, our new Director of Product, who is joining another three promotions in the Product team; Colin McKean has moved up to Build Functional Lead, with Paul Owens and Paul Lees being promoted to Senior Developers. Pete McMorrow has been doing a stellar job since joining the Shoal in June and has moved up to Interim Director of Customer, with David Connolly rounding out the promotions as our new Outreach Functional Lead.

Congratulations to everyone, these promotions are so well deserved!

Winner Winner, Fishy Dinner!

Every month here at Firefish we love to recognise and reward achievement and contributions to both the Shoal and the product. Part of how we do this is by awarding Fish of the Month to the Shoal member who has gone above and beyond.  

It was a closely fought contest this month, with some fin-tastically worthy Fish in the mix but I am delighted to let you know that Stewart Pollock was voted our Fish of the Month for October!

Stewart has been an integral of our Data Team, smashing out migration after migration for our customers. He is the true embodiment of our Functional Lead role, never dropping the ball and he's always happy to share his knowledge to the rest of the Shoal. He's not only managed to balance everything that has come at him, but he's also doing a fin-ominal job heading up our #lovethefish Focus Group. so well done Stewart, this is well deserved!

There's always so much competition for our Team of the Month award as every function works so fin-tastically hard hard and contributes to Firefish and the Shoal, but in October, Team of the Month went to our Customer Team!

When they have nearly all of the nominees - and the award winner - for our Fish of the Month award, you know that Customer have had a fin-ominal month! Smashing migrations out the park, contributing to and leading Focus Groups and continuing to keep our customers supported with 100% satisfaction, what a month it's been! Congratulations Customer, this one is well deserved!
