Swimming &S winging – It can only be Focus Day!
At Firefish Software, we know that collaboration and innovation are the cornerstones of our success. To mark the end of our most recent cycle of Focus Groups—and to kick off the next—we held our much-anticipated Focus Day last Friday at Top Golf in Glasgow. The day was a brilliant success, with plenty of fun and recognition for those who’ve made outstanding contributions to our growth and culture.
Celebrating Focus Group Success
Focus Groups area core part of how we continue to improve as a company. They allow our Fish to share ideas, collaborate on projects cross functionally, and tackle challenges with fresh perspectives. These groups ensure that every voice is heard and that our projects move forward with the energy and creativity that Firefish Software is known for.
This Focus Day, as always, we celebrated the end of our Focus Group cycle by recognising some standout contributors. The Finominally Focussed Fish Award went to David Connolly, whose commitment and innovative thinking helped our Love the Fish achieve brilliant results. David’s commitment to driving positive change and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within the company earned him this well-deserved accolade.
In addition to David, we had three other notable nominees for their excellent contributions to their respective groups: Amy Hollingsworth, Greg Lewis, and Sebastian Bogle. Their dedication and teamwork helped propel our latest initiatives forward, so well deserved nominations!
“Friendly” Competition
After the strategy section of Focus Day, it was time to switch gears and head to the golf bays for some well-earned fun! Focus Day isn't just about recognising past accomplishments; it's also about reinforcing the camaraderie that makes our team special. What better way to bond than a friendly (but competitive!) round of golf?
The golfing proved to be just as spirited as our focus group work, with everyone getting involved in the game, regardless of skill level. Gordon Webb claimed the top spot as the highest scorer of the day, showing off some impressive golfing skills. Close behind were Richard Lewis and Greg Lewis, who also put in strong performances, giving Gordon a run for his money.
But it wasn’t all about who could score the most points—there were laughs and cheers for every swing, whether it hit the target or went far off course! And, in the spirit of light hearted competition, Emma Ibell earned the Wooden Spoon Award for the lowest score, taking it all in good humour and proving once again that it’s not just about winning but about taking part and having fun.
A Strong Start for the Next Focus Group Cycle
With the next cycle of Focus Groups about to begin, everyone left feeling motivated and energised, ready to dive into new projects, share ideas, and continue pushing Firefish Software to new heights.
The spirit of collaboration, recognition, and friendly competition shown on Focus Day reflects what makes Firefish Software a great place to work. As we enter the next phase of our journey, we look forward to seeing how our teams will continue to innovate and excel—whether in the boardroom or on the golf course.
Here’s to another successful Focus Day and to many more cycles of creativity and collaboration ahead!
