Looking back at 2016
December – a time for reminiscing, for rejoicing, for looking back on the past 12 months and consuming a whole tonne of chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies... and here at Firefish we’ve had another incredible year in 2016! Here’s a quick rundown of the best bits and highlights of our year so far…
February – TEAM Network Conference
The Firefish team once again attended the TEAM Network Conference in Northamptonshire, giving sessions on Predicting Your Future, Upgrading Your Sales Technique, and our product and partnerships. The fun continued with an evening dinner dance, and the team came back to Glasgow even more full of fizz than usual.
March – Shortlisted for Recruitment Technology Innovation of the Year
In March we received yet more recognition for our software, appearing on the shortlist for Recruitment Technology Innovation of the Year at the Recruiter Awards.
April – TruEdinburgh
April saw the team swim up to another Tru event, this time in Edinburgh. Our CEO delivered a talk on ‘Ensuring Every Candidate Takes Your Call’, and heard from Bill Boorman on ‘Myths, Legends & Recruiter BS’.
June – Future of Recruitment
June heralded the arrival of Firefish’s first event – our very exciting Future of Recruitment event held at the Glasgow Science Centre, and the first event of its kind north of the border. Featuring a masterclass from Greg Savage, and sessions from Kai Murray, Matt Burney, Google Dave, Bill Boorman and Johnny Campbell, the event was a roaring success.
June was also the month of the UK Recruiter Network 'Recruitment Agency Innovation, Technology and Social Media Showcase' for recruitment decision makers. Our Recruitment Success Specialist Cameron had a chance to show off our software, and the team mingled with other suppliers and influencers in the industry.
July – Summer Team Night Out
We had our Summer Team Night Out in July this year, making the most of the Fish Bar to make like fishes and drink!! The afternoon descended into minor chaos as a Battle of the Directors took place on Space Hoppers, before we all headed down to the local pub for refreshments and ‘magic bean roulette’.
August – Turing Fest
The team swum up to Edinburgh once again to experience TuringFest 2016, a tech festival held during the Fringe. Over the two days, we learned new PPC strategies, focussed on marketing psychology, conversion tips, SEO information and dispelled popular marketing myths – our brains were full but it’s always good to get exciting new ideas and a different perspective.
October - RecNet
Seeing as we had such a great time at June's RecNet event, come October we were more than ready to attend the next one. October's focus was the best recruitment software on the market, giving recruitment agency decision makers the chance to learn more about what was on offer. CEO Wendy and Recruitment Success Specialist Cameron were on hand to demonstrate Firefish, and thoroughly enjoyed swimming with the other attendees.
November – Microsoft Azure Partnership
Firefish announced an exciting new partnership! We are now a proud partner of Microsoft Azure, the service that lets software companies deploy their services through a global network of Microsoft-managed data centres. This means that our cloud-based platform will have a 99.9% uptime, providing our customers with an easily accessible, reliable service.
November also saw Firefish host TruGlasgow at the Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of the city. The Firefish team always have a great time at Tru events, and hosting one ourselves in our city was an amazing experience. The tracks offered included a look at the future of recruitment, recruiting practices and unconscious bias in recruitment.
December – Fishmas Night Out
December can only mean one thing for the Firefish team – our Christmas night out! Drinks were served in the Fish Bar, and we must have been good since Santa had left presents under the tree for everyone. From the Aquarium, we headed down to the Christmas market in George Square to sample the hot cider and get in the festive spirit for a meal at Dram, one of our Glasgow faves.
New Faces
In addition to our jam-packed events calendar, we also found the time to add some new fish to our Aquarium, in the form of Content Guru Andy, Money Man Richard, Recruitment Success Specialist Ross, and Digital Marketing Champion Christine. Welcome to the shoal, guys!
It's certainly been a massive year here in the Aquarium, and we can't wait to see what 2017 will bring.
Until then, stay happy, stay healthy and don't forget to #lovethefish
