Another News Splash May-thinks?

Surely it can’t be just us that think this year has swum by? It seems like yesterday we were putting out fins up to celebrate Fishmas and now it’s heatwave weather! Not that the Shoal is complaining about that, but let’s dive into what’s being happening at Firefish!

Code-Clanners,Assemble!

We love an opportunity to collaborate with other businesses here at Firefish, so we hosted CodeClan in our Hub!

CodeClan are Scotland’s first and only “award winning, industry lead digital skills academy”. We relish every chance we get to learn from others and show off our skills, and CodeClan were more than happy to come along to the Hub for the afternoon to do just that!

It was a fin-ominal afternoon for everyone, with our Shoal members showing the CodeClanners around our Hub and what we do here, from the product, to our teams and our company culture!

It’s been a difficult few years for the industry, so it’s great to see people from across the sector coming together to learn, network and have some fun! A massive thanks to the CodeClanners for coming along, it was fin-tastic to see you!

Ready,Set, Bake Off!

In celebration of World Baking Day, Amy H organised the first Firefish Bake Off in the Hub!

Our Shoal love a competition, and they love cake, so this was right up their street! Competing across five categories, including the inaugural Firefish Star Baker award, our fishes rolled up their sleeves, turned on their ovens and decorated their fins off!

With a crack judging team of David, Tony and Amy overseeing proceedings (and taking their time over the taste tests!) the winners were eventually crowned!

Congratulations to Vicki and Tony, taking home the Technically Talented prize for their quiches. Tony also won the Fin-tastically Flavoursome Award for his Bakewell cupcakes; they were delicious! Lauren’s decorating prowess led her to be crowned the winner of the Delightfully Decorated award, and despite close competition, she was also crowned the overall Star Baker, congratulations!

We were going to have a Wooden Spoon award, but the judges decided that no ones bake was deserving of that, so instead, everyone else that took part shared the 'A for Effort' award, as everything baked was marvellous!

And the winner is….

The ScotlandIS Digital Tech Awards 2022 are back and in person! After a three year wait, the Digital Technology sector from all across Scotland gathered in the Radisson Blu in Glasgow to celebrate the success of the industry and reward those that stood out from the rest of the shoal!

Firefish at ScotlandIS Digital Tech Awards

Firefish were shortlisted for Best Workplace of the Year, alongside Appetite for Business and Goodloop, two very deserved nominees. Unfortunately, we didn’t walk away the winners, with Appetite for Business crowned Best Workplace, congratulations!

But it’s not all over. The TIARA Talent Tech Star awards recognise and reward excellence in the talent sector across the United Kingdom and Ireland. This year, the shortlist is bigger than ever, with 47 “talent tech leaders and challengers” vying to be crowned in one of 13 categories. Firefish is up for two awards; The Pearl Meyer Talent Tech Best Company to Work For and our CEO Wendy has been shortlisted for The Optima Talent Tech Leader of Year. The shortlisted companies and leaders will travel to the Royal Institute of British Architects in London on July 1st to find out who will take home the prize.

Fingers crossed we win! Check back with us to find out if we do!
