There's no such thing as the post-Christmas blues for the Fish!
We were back with a bang in January, refreshed from our festive breaks and with some exciting plans for the year ahead.
Looking Back
January's always a good time reflect on what we got up to in 2018 but we'd be here all day - and some of the night - if we were to tell you all about it, so check out the video for some eye watering stats on features, content...and coffee!
Phew! We certainly packed a lot into 2018, and there's even more to come in 2019. We'll still be keeping you updated every month, so you'll be the first to hear all our gossip.
Looking Forward
We kicked the year off by celebrating our 9th birthday. We can't believe it's been 9 years already, and are so excited to get planning for our big double digits do next year. We've grown so much that it's guaranteed to be quite a party!
New Fish
Speaking of growth, we had not one but two fabulous new Fish joining the shoal in January.
Darren Rigmand joined the Fast Track team as a Software Developer, and not only did he start a new job at the end of January, but he also celebrated his birthday!
Darren loves working on larger-scale features for our users to enjoy, and is a big football fan - both playing and watching! Y
ou may also find him taking a brisk walk up a hill, jumping about at a gig, playing his PS4 or drinking lots of coffee (he'll fit in well then!)
Over in Technical Operations Ian O'Friel joined the shoal to help smooth out any issues in the current version of Firefish.
He doesn't just like fixing things at work, though: apparently one of his favourite things to do in his spare time is to take things apart to see how they work, then make them do things they weren't designed to do!
Birthdays
Darren wasn't the only Fish with a January birthday - User Experience UAT Craig also had to endure some off-key singing in his quest for cake!
Burns Night
Being a Scottish company, we couldn't let Burns Night pass us by without paying a little tribute to the Bard! We managed to keep off the haggis and whisky (during working hours, anyway!) but we donned our finest tartan and nibbled on some shortbread with our end of month lunch.
Fish of the Month
Our Fish are all brilliant, but each month we like to celebrate the person who's really lived our values and gone the extra mile. It was extremely closely contended, but our winner this month was Recruitment Data Specialist, Scott, who lead his first data migration in his first three months with the company. The customer commented on what a fantastic experience they had in what can be a tricky and stressful process.
What made this really special is that Scott was awarded Fish of the Month on the day of his probation review! It was great to be able to reward him so quickly...and probably ensured he wasn't too nervous going into his review meeting!
We're off to the Recruitment Expo at the London Olympia next month and are very excited as we've got our own huge stand! We'll be back next month to tell you all about it but in the meantime...keep swimming!
