It’s our 10th birthday! Can you believe your favourite fishies have been changing the way businesses recruit for a whole decade?
 

We might be entering our teenage years but don’t worry, we’re still the same Fish you know and love – just with an extra air of so-fish-tication.

Where it all began...

Maybe you already know how the Firefish journey started, but do you know where? Here’s a sneak peek… and no, there wasn’t more space behind the camera. 

Swimming from strength to strength

We’ve come a long way since 2010. In ten years, we’ve grown from a 2-man project to a 45-man multi-award-winning software business with clients in 26 countries worldwide and 30% growth year-on-year

‍Opening the Firefish Aquarium was definitely a landmark moment for us. We went from sardines in our tiny townhouse office to swimming freely in our awesome open-plan Aquarium that has given us the space we needed to grow our shoal.

Always one to swim against the current, Wendy cut a ceremonial balloon instead of a ribbon at the Aquarium opening day!

Looking to the next 10 years…

Not only are we celebrating our birthday this month, but we’ve announced some big changes that indicate 2020 will be our biggest year to date!

You may have heard we’ve just hired the incredible Chris Varley as our new CTO, and announced we’ve o-fish-ally expanded to London too – and that’s only the beginning…
 

Here’s what our Chief Fish has to say on the last decade and scale-ing the business…

“Ten years ago, I was a frustrated recruiter with a vision that there had to be a way that technology could make recruitment more efficient, and I could see that the industry badly needed to innovate to survive. When I look back now, it’s amazing to think how far we’ve come since then as a business and as an industry too.

The new hires we’ve made – both in Glasgow and our first hires in London – mark a massive step forward in the Firefish journey and I can’t wait to see where the next decade takes us.

Having worked with Chris in a previous life (he was my best client back when I owned my own recruitment agency), I know he’ll bring the stability we need to take us through this next high-growth period for the business. To say 2020 has started with a bang for Firefish would be a real understatement!”
